2017 Central Texas Boat and Outdoor Show
Bell County Expo Center
For Immediate Release
Recently during one of those “warm” Central Texas Winter days a friend said, “Let’s go fishing. I haven’t been since I was a kid.” I said, “what do you want to fish for?” He said, “You mean we can know what we are fishing for?”
Time and technology make today’s fishing trip just about as detailed as you want. Today in Central Texas people go fishing for Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, White Bass, Hybrid Bass, Crappie, Blue and Channel Catfish, Yellow Catfish, Sun Perch, and even Rainbow Trout! They fish with Cane Poles, Casting Rods, Spinning Rods, Fly Rods, and all kinds of Specialty Rods and Reels made for various applications.
Not everyone has their own personal private pond where they catch fish every cast, but within less than an hour’s drive from the Bell County Seat there are lakes and opportunities galore! During certain times of the year you may get lucky in catching fish from the bank; however, those that know are most successful when fishing from a boat on the water.
If it has been awhile since you attended a boat show, you really need to come see the latest technology for boating fun. You will find it during the annual Central Texas Boat & Outdoor Show, January 20th – 22nd at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton. If your idea of fun is flying over the fish while someone else is trying to coax a bite, then this show is for you. Ski Boats, Wake Boats, Tubing Boats, Wave Boats, Personal Watercraft will all be on display. They are safe for the family and have enough power to pin your cheeks to your ears in a stiff breeze. Coming to the boat show is kind of like going on a cruise, you’re the Captain and there is a buffet of beautiful watercraft waiting for you to take the helm.
Hours, days and weekends spent together on the water makes lasting memories that get better with time. If you are looking for an investment that brings you close as a family, consider outdoor boating fun. Central Texas Boat & Outdoor Show dates are Friday, January 20th, Saturday, January 21st, and Sunday, January 22nd. Hours are Friday 2PM – 8PM, Saturday, 10AM – 8PM, and Sunday, 10AM – 5PM. Two Days of Fishing for the TuffMan Bass Tournament Championship!
Once again, this year’s TuffMan Bass Championship is a two day event. Weigh Masters will be Keith Combs, three time winner of the Toyota Bass Classic, and Terry Ickes, General Manager of G3 Yamaha. The first days’ action will take place Saturday, January 21st on Lake Stillhouse Hollow with weigh-in under the Expo Dome beginning at 3:30pm. Day two, Sunday, January 22nd, moves to Lake Belton, with the final weigh-in beginning at 2:30pm. Both days catch will be totaled to determine the winning team! Sixty qualifying teams and last year’s winning team for a total of 61 teams will compete for over $20,000 dollars in cash and prizes! Each team will pull by the weigh-in trailer and remove their catch from an aerated live well in their boat. The fish are weighed on a digital scale and then placed in a holding tank containing Catch N’ Release additive. This helps to calm the fish. Once the weigh-in is complete the fish are released alive back into the lake. If you have never experienced a live weigh-in of a major bass tournament this is your opportunity! Elite B.A.S.S. Angler, Keith Combs will be present as co-emcee both days. Because the TuffMan weigh-in is conducted under the Expo Dome there’s not a bad seat in the house! The winning team will receive $10,000.00 in cash! Legend Boats, Triton Boats and Skeeter Boats contingency money could add up to an additional $10,000.
